My first Yahoo OpenHack !
When I got to know of this event that was to be held in the garden city – Bangalore, I began to find info of how relevant and interesting it would be! What i found was astonishing to be frank! I immediately registered in the hope i make it through to the event to get first hand experience of being a “Hacker“.
Since I was involved in my internship at HP during all this while i really couldn’t get my ideas focused cause i was pretty sure other fellow “Hackers” would have already started the implementation side of their ideas. Finally I succumbed to the fact i just could not work out time for his awesome event out of the blue so like any first timer i was like “24hrs ill do it there only” Lol!!
On the 31st when i reached The LaLiT Ashok , I was welcomed my police personnel and security guards cause the “Biggest Insult To Karnataka” aka Bookanakere Siddalingappa Yeddyurappa happened to be there too!! But I got my way to the registration Desk from there and immediately realized how organised it just was. Simple procedures and there i had my Id card and a wrist band that said Yahoo!
On I marched to the “Kalinga” and there people already hocked to their comps, using the wifi and probably putting the finishing touches LOL! Slowly the room filled up to it brim and the Wow Factor of the event hit me there and then!
I personally didn’t expect much at the start, But the Brilliant Food, fickle Wifi and company of Seniors who where at their best giving “Gyan” about the event and work-life that they just have entered! Fun is a subdued word for the experience I just had for 2 days (silly Spamming of Facebook Walls, Twitter updates when I hadn’t started coding, Staying up till 4:30 with out sleeping, collapsing at around 6am i think on a bean bag, Playing on Xbox Kinect and fusball, Roaming aimlessly around etc) and the wealth of knowledge I acquired was priceless.
I have to say the finalists where of a different class and the “Hacks” presented where really Brilliant! Hats of to Yahoo! an YDN of hosting the yahoo OpenHack India in splendid manner. (Thanks for the Bean bag @ Anil Patel)
As my senior said “Yahoo has redefined the concept of HACKING! ” and I will have to see to that it becomes a regular event in my schedule for the coming years cause “HACKING” is a great thing! \m/
